Idea: Ideas Bank

A website, such as Pinterest, where users upload ideas (like what I just spoke of) for others to act on.

Ideas would be categorised by subject area, theme, or incentive.

One could subscribe to the Ideas Bank by means of RSS feed or similar—nothing invasive like a mailing list.

Users e-mail addresses would be visible and/or available to allow for collaboration on ideas. I feel an in-built direct messaging service, like that of Twitter, would be detrimental—an e-mail would perhaps encourage a seriousness about tackling the ideas and would start a more personal connection between potential collaborators.

This is very similar to the imminent Medium which “is based on the belief that the sharing of ideas and experiences is what moves humanity forward” . However I feel their example page is too rich with stuff, I imagine a much more minimalist, simpler, less intimidating approach. Like that of Twitter, perhaps a limit of 140 characters, or similar, would make it more approachable, and less about the aesthetic of a users ‘profile’.

There would be complete parity among users, no hierarchy. So there will be no ‘following’ of particular users.

Abuse of the system would be self regulated, perhaps with a ‘flagging’ system—once a particular number of flags have been raised, the post is removed (?).

Ideas

From now on, anything I feel is a good idea, or could become a good idea, I will post here on Tumblr.

Why?:

  • In the interest of sharing, and to start an egoless design incentive, I want any idea I may have to be up-for-grabs.
  • Who am I to say I would be able to act on my ideas in the best way?
  • I have a limited skill set, perhaps someone with a more suitable skills could act on ideas I cannot.

Granted, my audience here is small, but it is a start—and one I feel should be started sooner rather than later.

Two porn companies are courting web surfers to upload photos they find online to the companies’ free facial-recognition, face-matching database services.

With SexFaceFinder.com and Naughty America’s “Face” anyone can upload an image and have the services match it with images and faces in image databases.

SexFaceFinder positions its service as a way for users to find a performer that looks like s specific person.

Or to find performers that look like the user’s favorite type of model, in an effort to engage the user with a service that closes the marketing gap between a user and their fantasy.

Another company, Naughty America, openly solicits users to upload images of girls found on Instagram and other internet destinations in an effort to find the photo’s subjects in porn - or find celebrity look-alikes, girlfriend and ex-girlfriend look-alikes, or similar/specific porn performers.

Naughty America’s facial recognition matching openly asks users to try photos of girls they find on Instagram and other social media websites.
